DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Rocky Delgadillo, a partner in the firm’s Real Estate practice, has been named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2021 Minority Leaders of Influence: Attorneys list, which recognizes leading minority lawyers based in Los Angeles for their significant contributions to the local business and legal community.
The publication highlighted Delgadillo’s recent work, including advising an aerospace manufacturer in matters related to the COVID-19 pandemic, while assisting the company in acquisitions; and guiding real estate investment firm Square Mile Capital Management in the opening of an eight-story, 253-room, 206,000-square-foot Hilton Hotel in Santa Monica.
Delgadillo has more than 30 years of experience in litigation, economic development transactions, and government law and public policy. Before joining DLA Piper, where he works closely with a variety of local companies to offer advice on strategic development and growth, he served an eight-year tenure as the City of Los Angeles City Attorney. As the city's chief lawyer and chief criminal prosecutor, he led more than 550 attorneys who comprise the second largest municipal law firm in the nation. He was the first Latino to win citywide office in more than 100 years when he was first elected in 2001. During his tenure as City Attorney, Delgadillo implemented a number of innovative programs to further his vision of a better and safer Los Angeles. His top priorities included fighting crime, improving the quality of life in local neighborhoods and reducing the city's civil liabilities.
