The Los Angeles Business Journal has named two DLA Piper partners with strong community ties to its 2020 Top Minority Attorneys list.

Holly R. Lake represents both private and public employers in all aspects of employment law and related litigation, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge, and wage-and-hour matters. A 20-year legal industry veteran, she has extensive experience leading legal teams on large-scale class and collective actions, employment-related investigations and compliance audits. She is also actively involved in the community including serving as a mentor for South Central Scholars Noonan Scholars, an organization whose mission is to help high-achieving, low-income underrepresented students get into and graduate from top colleges and achieve their full career potential. Holly is on the board of directors of Goodwill Industries of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties and is a member of the Links Incorporated.

Miles Cooley was recognized for his work as counsel for a variety of entertainment and media entities, significant multinational companies, major sports franchises as well as high-profile families and individuals including celebrities, recording artists and athletes, in both dispute resolution matters and talent-related entertainment transactions. Miles is on the national board of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights, a civil rights organization that seeks to ensure equal justice and voting rights in the United States. He also serves as a mentor for South Central Scholars Noonan Scholars and advocates on local, state and national foster care issues as a board member of the John Burton Advocates for Youth and pro bono counsel for Peace4Kids.

"A core value of DLA Piper is to have meaningful positive impact in all communities in which its people work and live, and these partners demonstrate these values through their involvement and leadership," said Jackie Park, co-managing partner of DLA Piper’s Los Angeles offices.

The editors noted the attorneys selected for the list are "considered to be particularly impactful on the legal scene while serving as trusted advisors in the LA region and maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards, and for contributions to the Los Angeles business and legal community at large."
