BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rosenfeld Meyer & Susman (RMS) announced today that Robert W. Stanley, a respected Certified Family Law Specialist, has joined the firm as a Partner to run the firm’s Family Law Group previously run by the now-retired Ovvie Miller.

Stanley, who handles all aspects of divorces, and who also negotiates and drafts all forms of relationship agreements (including cohabitation agreements, pre-partnership agreements, pre-marital agreements, and post-nuptial agreements), is excited to add his experience gained through nearly two decades of exclusively handling high-end family law matters, including 13 years with the premier boutique Beverly Hills family law firm of Jaffe and Clemens, to the broad range of expertise already at RMS, including in the fields of trusts and estates, entertainment, intellectual property and corporate/business law.

Stanley, who is also known for his sub-specialty in same-sex relationship issues, says that although same-sex couples have come a long way, differences at divorce time for same-sex couples still exist, especially for those couples who got together before the massive shift in the associated legal paradigm of recent years. “Aspirationally and technically, the law should be equal at this point, but we are not in a place yet where everything’s perfect,” said Stanley, who authored a chapter in the authoritative “California Domestic Partnerships and Same-Sex Marriage” treatise published by CEB (California Continuing Education of the Bar), entitled Special Issues Faced by Same-Sex Couples on Termination of their Relationships. “I’m able to understand those nuances among what the law says, how it’s being interpreted and how it applies to the facts on the ground for a real-life couple, so it’s important to have someone like me assessing the issues when the subject relationship is same-sex.”
Stanley is also an active member of the community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice (LACLJ), and on the Family Law Section Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
